"Any form of art is a form of power; it has impact, it can affect change - it can not only move us, it makes us move."

--- Ossie Davis

Hovey has been proud to call Waltham home for nearly nine decades. The city is also home to a spectacularly vibrant, diverse community, where more than 1 in 4 residents were born outside of the U.S. In a political climate where democratic freedoms and immigrant rights are increasingly under attack, please join us for a very special, one-night-only event on September 27th, where all proceeds will benefit the ACLU and the LUCE Immigrant Justice Network.

Doors open at 7pm, with programming starting at 7:30pm. The event will feature:

  • A staged reading of Aaron Posner's provocative new play JQA, which brings John Quincy Adams to life through imagined dialogues with family and political figures and tackles timeless questions about liberty, democracy, and the role of government

  • An art auction featuring the work of incredible local artists

  • A raffle of gift baskets

  • Signature cocktails and mocktails

Seats are limited! Choose your own ticket price at www.hoveyplayers.com/box-office:

  • $25: The Petition

  • $50: The March

  • $75: The Sit-In

  • $100: The Revolution

Want to support the cause but not available on 9/27? Join us in spirit by donating at https://www.hoveyplayers.com/donate or sending a Venmo to @HoveyPlayers

Eurydice.PNG

On the day of her wedding, Eurydice falls victim to a tragic accident that sends her hurtling into a wonderland of an Underworld: ripped from her beloved Orpheus, the greatest musician in the world, Eurydice is reunited with her dead father in the Land of the Dead. Orpheus journeys to retrieve his bride, but Eurydice has begun to discover that the cost of living again can sometimes exceed the cost of staying dead. Full of dark humor, lyrical beauty, and wit, Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice transforms a traditional myth into a visceral, contemporary meditation on love worth grieving for.
Performance Dates: January 23, 24, 30, 31 / February 5, 6 & 7 - 8pm / January 25 & February 1st  - 2pm
